Construction of US 60 Show Low Creek Bridge to begin
The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) says construction of the new $4.2 million bridge over Show Low Creek on US 60 will begin on May 1. The new bridge, in conjunction with channelization of the creek bed, will reduce the probability of water flowing over the highway during heavy storms.
On Thursday, May 1, crews will begin removal of the existing striping and will adjust the phasing of the traffic signals. The highway will be narrowed to two ten-foot traffic lanes in each direction.
The initial construction phase will last through December. The final paving will be completed in the summer of 2009.
There will be delays throughout the course of the project. ADOT advises drivers to proceed with caution, obey all posted speed limit signs, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
